Sagaponack, NY    completed 2008    5,030 sf

Located in the Hamptons in eastern Long Island, this 2,490 sf three story addition to the existing 2,540 sf house is inspired by the vernacular architecture predominated by large simple forms clad in shingle and clapboard. Although the architecture is very traditional, the building method of “modular construction” is an advanced form of construction in which the addition is built in three-dimensional sections or modules in an enclosed factory environment. All the major systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and finishes are completed prior to shipping and installation on the site which is prepared while the modules are in fabrication.
